Texas’ Steve Edmond injured by this Texas Tech crackback block

The Longhorns linebacker sent to the locker room with a rib injury following a vicious block.

Texas Longhorns linebacker Steve Edmond has left Thursday night's game against Texas Tech, after being injured on a legal crackback block by Red Raiders wide receiver Eric Ward.

Edmond was helped off the field and taken to the Texas locker room for evaluation. The Longhorns radio broadcast is reporting that Edmond is being treated for a shot to his ribs.

The hit was hard enough to shake up Ward, who looked woozy but has returned to the game.

Edmond has made nine starts in the Longhorns’ first ten games and leads the Longhorns in tackles, and is tied for the team lead in pass breakups. The junior is in his second season as a starting linebacker.

The Longhorns lead the Red Raiders 10-7 in the second quarter.
