Alabama loses All-SEC OL Anthony Steen for Sugar Bowl vs. Oklahoma

The senior guard will likely next be seen playing on Sundays.

Alabama is heavily favored in its Sugar Bowl matchup against Oklahoma, but the Tide will have one less piece when they take on the Sooners in New Orleans.

All-SEC offensive guard Anthony Steen will miss the game after undergoing surgery for a partially torn labrum, via Jeremy Fowler of CBS Sports. He was named second-team All-SEC as voted on by the coaches -- one of nine Tide players to make the team.

Steen has started 36 games over the last three years for the Tide, and the former three-star recruit is considered the 85th-best prospect in the upcoming NFL Draft by our own Mocking the Draft. Potential replacement options include redshirt freshman Alphonse Taylor, who is listed as Steen's backup on the Tide's depth chart. Taylor, a former four-star prospect, will try to help a strong Alabama offensive line as it faces a Sooner defensive front that is averaging more than five tackles for a loss per game.
