Austin Seferian-Jenkins pleads guilty to DUI

    Joe Nicholson-US PRESSWIRE

The University said that Seferian-Jenkins would remain suspended from the team until his case came to a conclusion. If that language is accurate, he could be back with the team for the start of camp on Aug. 5. At this point, when exactly he returns to the team remains unknown.

The folks at UW Dawg Pound seem pretty bullish on both Seferian-Jenkins and Williams taking the field against Boise State, though.

    Nation’s top tight end suspended

    Otto Greule Jr

It is not yet known if this suspension will extend into the regular season. Following practice Tuesday, head coach Steve Sarkisian announced the decision, and added that “we will make the decisions necessary based on our team rules and our school’s policies that are fair to him and fair to us, and we will move forward and we will support him.”

Seferian-Jenkins finished the 2012 season second on the team in receptions (69) and receiving yards (852) and led all receivers with seven touchdown grabs. He earned second-team All-Pac-12 honors, and he is already the school’s all-time leader in career receptions by a tight end, career receiving yards by a tight end and career touchdown catches by a tight end.

    Seferian-Jenkins takes “full responsibility”

    William Mancebo

Seferian-Jenkins reportedly veered off the road while driving drunk, and ended up hitting his head on the windshield after running into a small tree. He suffered some minor cuts and bruises, but managed to avoid any major injuries.

Disciplinary action for Seferian-Jenkins is stil forthcoming. It’s possible that he could miss time at the beginning of the 2013 season for the Huskies. The rising junior emerged as one of the best tight ends in college football in 2012, bringing in 69 catches for 852 yards and seven touchdowns.

“We are aware of an incident that occurred Saturday evening involving Austin Seferian-Jenkins,” Sarkisian said. “We are taking the matter very seriously. Austin made decisions that fall short of our expectations for student-athletes who represent the University of Washington. He will be disciplined internally in accordance with team and departmental policies. We will continue to support Austin throughout this process, while also holding him accountable and responsible for his actions.”

Seferian-Jenkins, who will be a junior next season, finished 2012 with 69 receptions for 852 yards, and both of those marks ranked second on the team; he also caught a team-best seven touchdown passes. That production earned him second-team All-Pac-12 honors.
