Austin Seferian-Jenkins pleads guilty to DUI, will serve day in jail

The Washington tight end will serve a day in jail, but his status for the season opener remains unclear.

Washington Huskies tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins pled guilty to driving under the influence on Monday. He was arrested after being involved in a one car accident on March 9, in which he was found with a blood alcohol level of 0.18, over twice the legal limit. Seferian-Jenkins was sentenced to 364 days in jail, but 363 of those were suspended. He is scheduled to serve his one day in jail on July 31.

The University said that Seferian-Jenkins would remain suspended from the team until his case came to a conclusion. If that language is accurate, he could be back with the team for the start of camp on Aug. 5. At this point, when exactly he returns to the team remains unknown.

Between Seferian-Jenkins and wide receiver Kasen Williams (who was cited for operating a vehicle after consuming alcohol as a minor, but blew below the legal limit), Washington's receiving options could be limited for their huge season-opening clash with Boise State in Seattle. Head coach Steve Sarkisian has not confirmed that either will in fact miss game time, but it's certainly within the realm of possibility.

The folks at UW Dawg Pound seem pretty bullish on both Seferian-Jenkins and Williams taking the field against Boise State, though.
