Austin Seferian-Jenkins arrested for DUI Saturday night

The Huskies tight end will be disciplined internally for a DUI arrest.

Washington Huskies tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins was arrested for DUI by police on Saturday night, according to a report from The Seattle Times. The 2012 national leader in receiving yards per game by a tight end was cited for drunk driving and released, and additional details are expected to come when the police report is made public. The university is aware of the situation and head coach Steve Sarkisian released a statement in response to the news.

“We are aware of an incident that occurred Saturday evening involving Austin Seferian-Jenkins,” Sarkisian said. “We are taking the matter very seriously. Austin made decisions that fall short of our expectations for student-athletes who represent the University of Washington. He will be disciplined internally in accordance with team and departmental policies. We will continue to support Austin throughout this process, while also holding him accountable and responsible for his actions.”

Seferian-Jenkins, who will be a junior next season, finished 2012 with 69 receptions for 852 yards, and both of those marks ranked second on the team; he also caught a team-best seven touchdown passes. That production earned him second-team All-Pac-12 honors.
