Tommie Frazier finally makes College Football Hall of Fame, reportedly

Tommie Frazier had one of the best careers a college quarterback could have, but had long been snubbed from the College Football Hall of Fame. Now, it appears the Husker’s wait is over.

Eric Francis

One of the biggest problems with the College Football Hall of Fame has long been that Nebraska quarterback Tommie Frazier wasn’t in it. That appears set to change:

Frazier won back-to-back national titles with the Cornhuskers in 1994 and 1995, but hasn’t gotten the recognition his play merited. A starter in part of all four seasons he played in Lincoln, Frazier was the MVP of the game that decided the national championship in three consecutive seasons, a consensus first-team All-American in 1995, and won the Sporting News College Football Player of the Year award as well as the Johnny Unitas Award. But he never made it in the pros, in part due to blood clots in his leg, and he never won a Heisman Trophy -- he finished second to Eddie George in 1995, considered in Lincoln to be a pretty big snub.

Now, his Hall wait appears over. Although the full announcement for the 2013 class will be made Tuesday, one player -- maybe Frazier -- is set to be officially announced Monday:

Frazier joins 15 other Huskers in the Hall of Fame, which will move from South Bend, Ind., to Atlanta. Defensive end Grant Wistrom is also in the hall from the national championship teams.
