Nebraska fans break out ‘WELCOME TO YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE’ tifo

Finally, college football fans get a tifo right.

Nebraska’s biggest home game of the year was likely this past Saturday, when the Cornhuskers beat Miami 41-31 in their final non-conference outing of the season. The student section delivered with this incredible display, bringing some good old soccer tradition to Memorial Stadium.

Update, 9/27: The banner returned for the Huskers’ next game, against Illinois.

This kind of display is also known as a tifo -- usually fan-organized displays of signs or some other choreographed activity. Tifos are a big thing in soccer: Maccabi Tel Aviv fans made an excellent Breaking Bad-inspired one in April, FC Copenhagen fans made a dang show out of one and Bayern Munich fans covered the whole stadium with one in April.

Nebraska isn’t the first program to attempt a tifo this season, but it may be the first to pull it off. Minnesota tried (and failed) to do one Saturday as well, while Notre Dame’s effort did not go so smoothly:

If this is a new college football trend, we heartily approve -- just get it right, football fans.
