Referee sums up Quick Lane Bowl with bizarre ‘THERE IS NO ACTION ON THE FIELD’ announcement

That’s just mean, stripes!

The Quick Lane Bowl hasn’t been the most thrilling bowl game of all time ... and apparently the referee knows it:

“THERE IS NO ACTION HERE ON THE FIELD. WE’RE GONNA PLAY THE GAME HERE. LET’S GO.”

Honestly, I’m not sure why the referee said this.

Maybe he was trying to say there was no penalty on the previous play? (But there are already ways to say that!)

Maybe he didn’t know his mic was on? (But he certainly seems to know it is!)

Maybe he was just trying to encourage the teams? (Well, hey, that’s neat!)

Maybe he just genuinely didn’t like watching the game, which at the time was a 13-7 snoozer in an empty NFL stadium in the fourth quarter? (That’s actually not neat! That’s mean! That’s not your job, ref!) If so, it helped. The next two drives had touchdowns, so the game had an interesting finish!
