2016 Alamo Bowl odds: Colorado a small favorite against Oklahoma State in Texas

The Colorado Buffaloes will try to find some rare bowl success in the Alamo Bowl against the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

The Colorado Buffaloes are 1-7 straight up and 2-6 against the spread in their last eight postseason games. The Buffaloes hope to put an end to that slump in the Alamo Bowl when they take on the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

Colorado is a 3-point favorite in San Antonio at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. In their last 13 games after losing the previous game in a matchup, the Buffaloes are 10-3 ATS.

The Buffaloes hadn’t been bowl eligible since 2007, but they claimed bowl eligibility with authority this season. Coming off five straight seasons with four or less wins, Colorado emerged as one of the top teams in the nation this season with a 10-3 SU and ATS campaign.

Colorado had a six-game losing streak snapped in a 41-10 blowout loss to Washington in the Pac-12 Championship Game, but it can still finish the year on a high note with a win on Thursday.

Over the team’s last 11 games as a betting favorite, the Buffaloes are 11-0 SU and 8-3 ATS per the OddsShark College Football Database.

Betting Line / Total: Colorado -3 / 62.5 Points

Trend: Oklahoma State is 0-3 ATS in its last three games against Colorado.

Trend: Colorado is 1-7 SU and 2-6 ATS in its last eight games in the postseason.

Oklahoma State also had a long winning streak snapped in its final game of the regular season with a blowout loss, losing 38-20 on the road to the Oklahoma Sooners. The Cowboys could have won the Big 12 with an upset over the Sooners, but instead landed here with a 9-3 SU and 7-5 ATS record. In their last five games against teams with winning records, the Cowboys are 4-1 SU and ATS. Oklahoma State is 4-2 in its last six bowl games.

The total for this bowl game is set at 62.5 points. The UNDER is 7-2 in Colorado’s last nine games overall.

The Cowboys have played in eight bowl games since the last time Colorado has advanced to one. While another bowl berth might feel like business as usual to Oklahoma State, Colorado will be thrilled at the opportunity to play in this bowl game and to try to earn the team its first bowl win since 2004.

This should be an excellent game if Oklahoma State is able to match Colorado’s intensity, but it could wind up lopsided if the Cowboys aren’t motivated to be here.
