Kansas State triumphed over Texas A&M in the Texas Bowl in Houston on Wednesday, by a final score of 33-28. Before that, tempers flared.
Aggie avenges K-State DB’s taunts with crotch-punch and TD catch
The receiver got the next laugh, but at least Kansas State won the game in the end.
At the end of the game’s first half, we had a bit of a ruckus in the KSU end zone, after the Wildcats broke up a last-ditch Hail Mary attempt on the way into the break:
There are a couple of things going on here:
- Kansas State defensive back Donnie Starks grabs A&M receiver Josh Reynolds around the head and neck area, then throws and twists him to the ground.
- Starks sits on Reynolds’s body and leans into him in an unfriendly-looking way. This probably had something to do with Starks getting an unsportsmanlike conduct flag.
- Also: Reynolds punches Starks in the groin.
Starks probably should not throw people’s heads into the ground. And Reynolds, for his part, probably should not be directing punches toward opponents’ testicles. (This wasn’t a direct hit, but it was close.)
In the third quarter, Reynolds responded in a different way.
That’s the coldest dish of revenge that’s ever been served.
But Starks, in the form of actually winning the game, got the last laugh. And Bill Snyder kept on beating Texan teams, which is a specialty of his nowadays.
