College football teams like to tell you about how much NFL Draft success they’ve had. They like to tell you this because they hope you are a high schooler who is very good at playing football, because maybe you’ll like them more if you think they are good at the NFL Draft.
Notre Dame and USC have the most NFL Draft No. 1 picks, but Cal just moved up the list
Jared Goff moves California into the Multiple Picks Club.
One extremely crude way to measure this is to look at which schools have the most No. 1 overall picks. The 2016 No. 1, Jared Goff, is not the first to come from Cal (Steve Bartkowski, 1975), so he moves the Golden Bears up into the group of schools with multiple all-time No. 1 picks.
Hey, here’s the list!
The two with five each (but only one in the last 20 years)
And hey, they’re archrivals. College football’s like that.

Two more rivals and Stanford (!) have four each
The Cardinal have been the Pac-12’s steadiest power, but it’s easy to forget their overall football history is very off-and-on. Nobody’s close to Stanford at producing No. 1 QBs, though.
