Georgia QB Jake Fromm has now suffered 2 different injuries at the lake in one summer

It sounds like the latest shouldn’t alter the Dawgs’ season very much.

Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Jake Fromm has suffered a broken hand, as reported by Rivals, which also later reported that a tree fell on Fromm’s house — he reportedly suffered no additional damage in the latter incident.

The injury is to Fromm’s non-throwing hand and occurred on Monday afternoon. There is just under two months until Fromm and the Bulldogs open their season at home against Austin Peay, and what sounds like a minor break to a non-throwing hand shouldn’t interfere with the start of the season, in theory.

The injury occurred in a “freak” lake accident, which comes on the heels of Fromm suffering another minor lake-involved accident in June, when he got a fishing lure stuck in his leg.

Fromm earned the starting quarterback job last year as a true freshman when Jacob Eason went down with a Week 1 injury. The Bulldogs are considered to be title contenders this coming season, and Fromm is a key piece of that puzzle.

Fromm played in 15 games in 2017, including bowl games, completing 181 of 291 passes (62.2 percent) for 2,615 yards, 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also rushed for 79 yards and three touchdowns.

We’ll update when there’s more information about the severity and expected recovery time.
