Former Barcelona star linked to surprise Liverpool move

Could Anfield be Victor Valdes’ next home?

Could Victor Valdes be the man to replace Pepe Reina at Liverpool? That, apparently, is not as far-fetched as it sounds. The former Barcelona goalkeeper, currently nursing a torn ACL, has been linked with a move to Anfield:

There is, of course, no reason to rush any prospective move for Valdes -- he's a free agent and doesn't need to sign before the end of deadline day -- which would give Liverpool plenty of time to assess his knee problem before committing to him. He's also unlikely to unseat Simon Mignolet as Brendan Rodger's number one even if he does arrive, although his familiarity with a high-tempo team game might be a point in his favour if he does indeed find his way to Merseyside this season.

It was previously reported that Spieth, Thomas and Fowler all went in on Leeds United. That does not appear to be entirely the case.
