Consistent tight ends continue to be tough to find in fantasy football and rookies have historically had a steep learning curve when moving from college to the NFL. But, teams are starting to find ways to use rookie tight ends more effectively early on. We have some extremely recent examples in Sam LaPorta, Trey McBride and Brock Bowers. This season we have two first round tight ends in Colston Loveland and Tyler Warren. Both are great dynasty picks and even good redraft picks. Both have upside to be Top 10 fantasy tight ends or even Top 5 if everything falls into place for them. After those two, the choices become tougher, but there is plenty of talent to sort through.

Terrance Ferguson, Rams

The Rams almost took Ferguson in the first round, but ended up grabbing him in the second, which is still great draft capital for a tight end. Ferguson made a splash at the NFL Combine, running a 4.63 40-yard dash. His athleticism and versatility is needed in Los Angeles. Tyler Higbee still leads the tight end room, but Sean McVay loves running two-tight end sets, which should give Ferguson snaps early on. His upside is high with Matthew Stafford throwing to him and sooner than later he should take over the TE1 job as the team starts looking toward the future.

Mason Taylor, Jets

Taylor was taken in the second round to be the Jets starting tight end from Day 1. He might not get a huge share of the snaps as he learns early on, but he is going to be the main offensive player at the position. The Jets are going to be run first, which isn’t great of Taylor’s rookie fantasy season, but his draft capital and opportunity should give him value early in his career.

Elijah Arroyo, Seahawks

Arroyo will need to beat out AJ Barner, but with the Seahawks letting DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett go has left a bunch of vacant targets. Yes, Cooper Kupp and Jaxon Smith-Njigba will get plenty of work, but that third target is still up for grabs and Arroyo has the skill set to take off with the job.
