Week 1 of the NFL season is once again upon us. Today we’ll take a look at tight end rankings for Week 1. As usual, we’re looking for tight ends we know are a part of the offensive game plan, and hopefully will see targets funneled their way. At this point in the season all we have are a handful of players who we can feel great about, so we’ve got plenty of work to do.

TE injuries
Cade Otton, Buccaneers
Otton is dealing with a leg injury, but was able to get on the practice field Monday. We’ll need to see his status this week, but if he’s ready to go, he would be a good position for good usage.
Isaiah Likely, Ravens
Likely avoided the PUP list, but he has yet to return to the practice field since foot surgery. He should return before Week 4, but he looks unlikely to play in Week 1. Mark Andrews would get more work in his absence.

Cade Otton vs. Saints
As long as Otton is able to practice in full this week, I expect him to have a big role to play against the Saints in Week 1. With Chris Godwin and Jalen McMillan out, Baker Mayfield will likely lean on Otton as his third target behind Mike Evans and rookie Emeka Egbuka.
Hunter Henry vs. Raiders
Henry had a decent 2024, but the Patriots overall offense was not good and scoring opportunities were few and far between. The hope this year is we see a nice second-year leap from Drake Maye as the pieces around him get better. The Raiders were also one of the worst defenses against tight ends last season and I expect them to still struggle in that area.
