Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season is finally here and the campaign will kick off on Thursday night with the Philadelphia Eagles hosting the Dallas Cowboys at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC.
Jaydon Blue start or sit: Week 1 fantasy football advice
We break down the fantasy football outlook of Jaydon Blue ahead of the Cowboys’ Week 1 opener against the Eagles.

The spotlight of the football world is on the Cowboys in the aftermath of the Micah Parsons trade and there’s genuine curiosity into how they will perform against the reigning Super Bowl champions to open the season. The offense will feature a handful of new faces, one of which being rookie running back Jaydon Blue. He enters the season with an ADP (average draft position) in the 40’s of both standard and PPR formats according to FantasyPros and will most likely split touches in the backfield with Miles Sanders and rookie Jaydon Blue this season.
Below, we’ll go over Blue’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 1.
Fantasy Football analysis: Cowboys RB Jaydon Blue
Blue was selected in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft this past April and provides a fresh face for the Cowboys’ running back room this season. The speedy 5’9” back out of Texas played a huge role in the Longhorns reaching the College Football Playoff semifinals last year, taking 134 carries for 739 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground while also adding an additional 42 receptions for 368 yards and six touchdowns through the air.
His speed and skills as a pass-catcher out of the backfield has made him a trendy fantasy sleeper heading into his rookie season, even with the presence of veterans Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders on the team.
Start or sit in Week 1 standard leagues?
Sit. Blue is listed third on Dallas’ unofficial depth chart for Thursday’s opener and he may get used sparingly against the defending Super Bowl champions. There is potential for the rookie to eventually leap frog both Williams and Sanders at some point during the regular season but for now, keep him on the bench if you drafted him.
Start or sit in Week 1 PPR leagues?
Sit. Dallas will most likely be pressed into passing situations if it falls behind early and that could potentially open up some opportunities for the rookie to get some targets out of the backfield. I’m still skeptical if it will be enough for even a Flex spot in deep PPR leagues, so I’d pass on Blue here as well.
