Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season is finally here and the campaign will kick off on Thursday night with the Philadelphia Eagles hosting the Dallas Cowboys at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC.
Dallas Goedert start or sit: Week 1 fantasy football advice
We break down the fantasy football outlook of Dallas Goedert ahead of the Eagles’ Week 1 opener against the Cowboys.

Philly will officially begin its Super Bowl title defense against a hated NFC East rival and is hoping that the march to a potential repeat will begin with a big victory at home. Many of the same faces that dominated the Kansas City Chiefs this past February are back for the Birds and that includes tight end Dallas Goedert. He enters the season with an ADP (average draft position) of No. 16 in both standard and PPR formats according to FantasyPros and will be looked upon as a reliable passing target for Jalen Hurts once again.
Below, we’ll go over Goedert’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 1.
Fantasy Football analysis: Eagles TE Dallas Goedert
Goedert’s 2024 campaign was disjointed because of nagging ailments, missing three games midseason due to a hamstring injury before missing the final month due to a knee injury. Through 10 games, he was able to scrape together 42 receptions for 496 yards and two touchdowns and while those aren’t eye-popping numbers, he was still able to average 10.4 fantasy points per game in PPR leagues.
Start or sit in Week 1 standard leagues?
Sit. The Eagles have loads of weapons to lean on in this Week 1 showdown and may not even need a big performance from the 30-year-old veteran tight end in the opener. If the team jumps out to an impressive lead early, they may opt to run the football in the second half and that means even less potential targets for Goedert. Unless you’re in a deeper league with limited options, I’d pass on the Eagles tight end for Week 1.
Start or sit in Week 1 PPR leagues?
Sit. With A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Saquon Barkley healthy and ready to go, Goedert may not get enough looks to make him a worthwhile add in PPR.
