Austin Ekeler start or sit: Week 2 fantasy football advice
We break down the fantasy football outlook of Austin Ekeler ahead of Week 2

The Commanders picked right up from where they left off in 2024 in Week 1, opening the new campaign with a 21-6 victory over the Giants last Sunday. Helping contribute to that victory was veteran running back Austin Ekeler, whose ninth season in the league is officially underway.
Below, we’ll go over Ekeler’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 2.
Fantasy Football analysis: Commanders RB Austin Ekeler
Ekeler was a productive piece of the offense in their Week 1 victory, clocking six carries for 26 rushing yards while also catching three targets for 31 receiving yards. It wasn’t too shabby of a performance but he was overshadowed by the play of backup rookie Jacory Croskey-Merritt, who compiling 10 carries for 82 yards and a touchdown in his NFL debut. Ekeler still ended up registering 10 more snaps in the opener, but it’s already a question of how much longer will the veteran will hold down the starting role over the rising rookie.
Washington’s offense will have its work cut out for in on Thursday night on its hands when heading up to Lambeau Field on a short week. The Packers’ defense shined with against the Lions in their 27-13 victory last Sunday, holding them to just 46 rushing yards and boasting the fourth-best defensive rushing EPA in Week 1. Jayden Daniels will want to get the ball out quickly against a a Micah Parsons-led front seven and that could open the door for Ekeler to get a handful of checkdown passes out of the backfield. But I don’t anticipate that it will be enough to warrant a start in fantasy leagues this week.
