Welcome to the Week 3 of our look at the best waiver wire D/STs out there.
Best fantasy football D/ST waiver wire pickups for Week 3
Packers and Seahawks highlight the top waiver wire D/ST targets entering Week 3.
We’ll go over some Week 2 D/ST performers and Week 3 matchups you should consider scooping off the waiver wire ahead of Week 3. We’ll classify a waiver add as someone who is rostered under roughly 60% of Yahoo leagues.
Green Bay Packers D/ST (53%)
Next three matchups — @CLE, @DAL, BYE
The Packers defense looked unstoppable against the Commanders on Thursday night and now they get extra time off to rest before they take on a bad Browns offense in Cleveland. They didn’t put up a lot of fantasy points, but they sacked Jayden Daniels four times and held him and the Commanders to 14 points. Wrapping up that offense like that isn’t done just by any defense.
Seattle Seahawks D/ST (23%)
Next three matchups — NO, @ARI, TB
Spencer Rattler hasn’t given up as many fantasy points to D/STs as I would have thought, but two home games against the Cardinals and 49ers aren’t the same as heading to Seattle to take on one of the better defenses in the league. Seattle intercepted Brock Purdy twice and Aaron Rodgers twice so far, while blocking a kick and scoring a touchdown on special teams.
New England Patriots D/ST (15% )
Next three matchups — PIT, CAR, @BUF
The Patriots defense hasn’t been as good as I expected, but this week they head back home to take on the shell of Aaron Rodgers. Yes, Rodgers looked good in Week 1, but he was back to his old, and I mean old, self this week.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers D/ST (6%)
Next three matchups — NYJ, PHI, @SEA
Justin Fields was abysmal against the Bills this week and was then forced from the game with a concussion. We’ll see if he can make it back for this game, but if he can’t Tyrod Taylor would get the start. Both quarterbacks have extremely low floors as passers and the Buccaneers have one of the better interior defensive lines in the league.
