Top 32 fantasy football D/STs for Week 5

Week 4 wasn’t as crazy for blocked kicks and pick sixes as Week 3, but it had its moments. The Steelers picked off Carson Wentz twice and sacked him six times in Dublin, but still gave up 350 passing yards and two touchdowns to the middling backup. They remain a tough team to get behind as a top D/ST play, but Wentz will always be someone you can target with your D/ST.

The Top 12 fantasy D/STs were all winners, which is logical, but just reminds us that picking winners is a key piece of picking good D/STs. We want our defenses to have a lead in the second half of games so they can rely on their opponents being one-dimensional.

The 49ers are hurting in a big way, as Brock Purdy re-injured his toe and Ricky Pearsall has a knee injury. Jauan Jennings should play, but is dealing with multiple injuries himself. Plus, they have a short turnaround to play on Thursday night. The Rams are 5.5-point favorites and I expect them to win by at least that much after the shell of the 49ers lost to the Jaguars last week.

We saw the Steelers get to Carson Wentz over and over again in Dublin and now Myles Garrett and company get to take him on in the dog pound. The lack of offense from the Browns is concerning, but the Browns have been able to slow down Joe Burrow and Jordan Love this season and they’re getting pressure at a 40% rate. Wentz does not deal well with pressure.
