The Arizona Cardinals lost a heartbreaker last Sunday to the, at the time, winless Tennessee Titans. The vibe in Arizona couldn’t be worse right now, but they still have to put a team on the field and after losing both James Conner and Trey Benson to injury, Michael Carter is now their lead back.

Carter didn’t do much with his 23 touches, but he did find the end zone and had 23 touches! He also didn’t have a run over seven yards against a team that backs average five yards a carry against.

Below, we’ll go over Michael Carter’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 6.

Fantasy Football analysis: Cardinals, RB, Michael Carter

The Cardinals head to Indianapolis this weekend as 6.5-point underdogs. If that plays out, Kyler Murray and company would trail in this game and be forced to throw, which lines up better for Emari Demercado, their third-down back. Bam Knight will get the start at running back for the Cardinals and getting 23 touches again is going to be a tall order. And what touches he does get are going to be against a tougher defense.

The Colts are very much middle of the road defensively against the run this season, but have managed to rank 7th-best in allowing fantasy points to running backs this season. The Colts are 4-1 with a +74 point differential, which means their opponents haven’t had leads very often. In this matchup we should expect closer to 15 touches for Carter and hope that some of those are around the goal line.

Start or sit in Week 6 PPR leagues?

Start. I’m giving him the nod based on volume alone. He has touchdown upside and is a good enough receiver to boost him up a bit in PPR. I wouldn’t want him higher than a flex play though.

Start or sit in Week 6 standard leagues?

Start. He’ll likely need a touchdown to be worth a start, but he is the goal line back, which means he has a decent shot at scoring.
