Welcome to Week 7 of the fantasy football season. Before we look forward, let’s take a quick look back at the standard bearers at running back in Week 6. All your usual suspects of course, Rico Dowdle, Cam Skattebo, Kimani Vidal, and some weirdos like Bijan Robinson, Josh Jacobs and De’Von Achane led the way.

Chet Gresham takes us through the top 70 standard running backs for Week 7

It appears Dowdle is the second-coming of Walter Payton, at least when playing the Dolphins and Cowboys. He’s likely won the starting job over the injured Chuba Hubbard, but only time will tell. Vidal was always the back most fantasy players wanted to see get the lead after Omarion Hampton went down, but reports were that Hassan Haskins would get the job. Those reports were incorrect. Vidal got the start and played great, rushing 18 times for 124 yards, while catching 3-of-4 targets for 14 yards and a touchdown. Playing the Dolphins helps of course, but he has upside in fantasy as long as Hampton is out. Skattebo is just a freak who will probably burn out like Icarus, but hopefully he’ll get a few years of success in before he comes plummeting to earth..
Week 7 byes
Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills
Running backs on bye
Derrick Henry, Justice Hill, James Cook, Ray Davis
RB injuries
Chuba Hubbard, Panthers
Hubbard missed the last two games with a calf injury, which helped Rico Dowdle get the lead role and put up 473 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns. It will be nearly impossible for head coach Dave Canales to bring Hubbard back as the lead back. Sure, the Dolphins and Cowboys are the dregs of the league defensively, but Dowdle is playing out of his mind right now.
Bucky Irving, Buccaneers
Irving missed the last two games with a shoulder and foot injury. Rachaad White has taken over the lead role and has been useful in fantasy with the extra work. Irving has already been ruled out for Week 7, so keep getting White into those lineups.
Aaron Jones, Vikings
Jones can come of I.R. this week if he’s healthy enough, but we’re still waiting on that news. Jordan Mason has looked good in his absence, but as long as Jones is healthy, he will have a role in the offense. It’s possible Mason will get the early down work and Jones passing-down work.
Emari Demercado, Cardinals
Demercado hurt his ankle and was unable to return in Week 6. If he misses any time it looks like Bam Knight will get the lead back role with Michael Carter getting more usage in the receiving role.
