Rashid Shaheed start or sit: Week 7 fantasy football advice

The 1-5 New Orleans Saints travel to Chicago as 5.5-point road dogs to face the 3-2 Chicago Bears at Soldier Field on Sunday. The Bears haven’t been awful against the pass this season, but their ineptitude against the Lions in Week 2 continues to skew their overall numbers. I’d put them at middle of the road against wide receivers this season. But, in a game where the Saints will likely need to pass a bunch, I do expect their receivers to get decent target numbers, as Kellen Moore’s offense lends itself to that as it is.

Below, we’ll go over Rashid Shaheed’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 7.

Shaheed now has exactly four receptions in each of his last five games. In two of those games he scored a touchdown to make him worth starting in fantasy, while the games where he didn’t score, weren’t great starts. The Bears have allowed eight touchdowns to wide receivers, tying them for fourth-worst this season. Half of those touchdowns did come against the Lions, but they still count of course.

We know Shaheed isn’t going to see double-digit targets like his counterpart Chris Olave, so he will likely need a long touchdown to hit. The Bears can give up that long touchdown, but how likely is it?

It’s still early as I write this, but the weather in Chicago isn’t looking great for Sunday, with gusty winds possible. The weather is worth monitoring, especially if you’re looking to play Shaheed. If the wind is up to 20-30 mph, it will likely hinder the deep ball, which is Shaheed’s specialty.

Sit. He’s right on the edge of flexible, but with the weather and lack of consistent production, I’ll take the safe route and sit him this week.
