The Vikings would rather keep the ball on the ground in this matchup though, as the Giants run defense is weak and they want to set up QB J.J. McCarthy for play action and fairly easy reads as he learns. With running backs Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason, they can be successful on the ground, but can either or both be started in your fantasy football playoffs?
Below, we’ll go over Jordan Mason’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 16.
Fantasy Football analysis: Vikings, RB, Jordan Mason
The Giants give up the most yards per carry, the second most rushing yards and the third-most fantasy points to running backs. That’s a good start for Mason’s fantasy upside. Unfortunately, Mason has fantasy finishes of RB57, RB24, RB46, RB44, and RB25 over the last five games despite scoring twice. The good news is that he’s seen double-digit rushing attempts over the last two games, with 11 and 10. Double-digit touches against the Giants would at least put him in flex consideration this week.
iiI currently have him ranked as RB40 in PPR and RB37 in standard. He’ll need a touchdown to be worth starting in either scoring setting and that’s his ceiling. I’m leaning toward sitting him where you can.
