Rarely does a trade involving late round draft picks work out so well. In the first week of September, the Ravens traded WR Mark Clayton to the Rams. It only took the Rams a move down from the sixth to the seventh round of the 2011 draft. He kicked things off with 300 receiving yards and 22 receptions through the first four games. He was on pace for a career high with rookie QB Sam Bradford.
Fantasy Football Surprise WR Mark Clayton Out For The Year
He was the best type of fantasy player -- the one no one thought would amount to anything that turns out to be one of the league’s better players. There’s no doubt he was winning someone’s league for them.
With all the positive vibes around him, it makes this news that much worse: Clayton suffered a torn patella tendon against the Lions on Sunday and that injury will end his season. Clayton is out for the year and the Rams are expected to confirm soon.
The NFL waiver wire will now be filled with folks figuring out who Danny Amendola is. That'll be the man now atop the Rams depth chart.
