Though the Panthers passing game is at loose ends switching off seemingly week to week from Matt Moore to Jimmy Clausen to Moore again, the team will get back its main weapon in the receiving corps this week when Steve Smith returns.
Fantasy Football Week 7 News: Steve Smith Returns To Practice
↵Smith participated in full practice for the first time on Wednesday since before Week 5 because of an ankle injury. The Panthers may never put together a fully potent passing attack this season, but it does gain a measure of respectability with Smith in the line-up. It’s worth noting as well that Smith has been on the receiving end of two of the three passing touchdowns by Carolina this year.
↵Smith left the third quarter of the Panthers’ Week 4 game against the Saints and seems likely to return in Week 7 against the 49ers. For what it’s worth, Smith had a great last stretch of the 2009 season with Moore, scoring a TD each of the last three games of the season.
