Chargers tight end Antonio Gates missed his second straight day of practice on Thursday and will be a gametime decision to play in San Diego’s Week 7 game against the Patriots.
Fantasy Football Week 7 News: Antonio Gates A Gametime Decision Vs. Patriots
↵Gates has played in 91 consecutive regular season games. He missed a start in the 2007 playoffs because of a toe injury that later required surgery. It is a toe injury again that may prevent him from going against New England.
↵If Gates is unable to go, Patrick Crayton and Buster Davis will be the two main targets for Philip Rivers against a relatively weak Patriots secondary. At the same time it makes those two more appealing waiver pick-ups this week, it also makes them easier for the Pats to defend with Gates out.
↵And while the passing game is having an injury problem, rookie running back Ryan Mathews is expected to go as well for San Diego, though he too missed practice on Thursday.
