Week 7 in fantasy football brought along a few new stars such as Ryan Fitzpatrick, a few players we thought we were going to be stars such as Darren McFadden, and old faces coming back to life such as Carson Palmer.
Fantasy Football News Roundup, Week 7: All Hail Darren McFadden
Catch up on all the important Week 7 fantasy football news in our weekly roundup.
There were a lot of things to like this week in fantasy football. Here are a few of the top story lines.
Finally, Darren McFadden
It's possible we're finally seeing Darren McFadden come alive. After being picked high by the Oakland Raiders in 2008, McFadden has been largely disappointing. He's also been a topic of fantasy conversation because of his speed and potential, but at the end of the day we usually end up talking about just that: potential.
McFadden has been changing that this season. In four of the five games he's played, he has over 95 yards. He dropped 165 yards and a whopping four touchdowns on Sunday against the Broncos making him the fantasy MVP of the week.
McFadden may finally be turning into the fantasy football back we all thought he would be three years ago.
It was quite the fantasy football day in Atlanta as the Falcons took down the Bengals 39-32 on Sunday. 71 combined points means there were some fantasy football super stars on Sunday.
Falcons WR Roddy White: He caught 11 of the 13 balls thrown his way for 201 yards and a pair of touchdowns. If you were playing against White in fantasy this week, then you're probably as angry as I am to see this stat line.
Bengals QB Carson Palmer: After a slow start to the season he came alive putting up three touchdowns and 312 yards.
Falcons QB Matt Ryan: Not to be outdone by Palmer, Ryan threw for 299 yards and three touchdowns in the win.
Falcons RB Michael Turner: He finished with 121 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Big scoring day for the Falcons.
Buffalo Bills and fantasy football?
Yeah you don’t normally think of the Bills when we’re talking fantasy football -- at least not in 2010. Week 7 brought a handful of Buffalo highlights in the fantasy football world.
The biggest surprise -- possibly of the entire week -- was QB Ryan Fitzpatrick putting up 374 and four touchdowns (along with two picks). This game came out of nowhere. WR Lee Evans was the beneficiary here getting 105 yards and three of Fitzpatrick's four scores.
What world do we live in that two of the top fantasy football players of the week come from Buffalo?
Re-evaluating Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe
Dwayne Bowe was a bit of a question mark coming into the season. His first two years in the league saw tons of potential as he racked up two seasons averaging about 1,000 yards receiving. In year three, when many thought he was going to break out, he ended up getting suspended and having a really poor year.
In 2010, Bowe is starting to fall into his groove. He had two touchdowns on Sunday against the Jaguars. Fantasy football freaks will remember that he had two touchdowns last week.
So what kind of fantasy football player is Bowe?
I don't think he's the guy that's going to be getting two touchdowns every week but he is becoming a must-start for you. He's becoming Matt Cassel's favorite target and in the last two weeks he's shown the importance of running after the catch. Bowe isn't a No. 1 fantasy receiver yet, but he's starting to make some folks pay attention to him.
Kenny Britt is your top fantasy football receiver of the week
Last week Titans WR Kenny Britt was accused of getting into a fight which would be another legal matter for him to handle. The news was disappointing to say the least and caused some fantasy owners to wonder whether this guy would make it as a legit NFL player.
I think Sunday showed that Britt’s going to be just fine.
If not for McFadden’s four touchdowns, we’d be talking about Britt as the player of the week. He hauled in seven passes for 225 yards and three touchdowns. It was a superb game in a Titan blowout.
Much like Bowe, the future is promising but he needs to prove it a few more times before we anoint him.
