With Dallas Clark done for the season, the Colts are in need of another player to bail out Peyton Manning on critical third downs. Manning has shown a proficiency at making solid contributors out of seemingly obscure player. See: White, Blair. And while Colts president Bill Polian would like to remind fans that Clark is an extraordinary talent, his backup, Jacob Tamme, is more than equipped to perform admirably in his stead. Here are Polian’s comments from the Colts’ official site:
Fantasy Football Week 8 News: Bill Polain Lauds TE Jacob Tamme
↵↵“Jacob can do the same things in the offense that Dallas can do, and by the way, I’m confident that he’ll do them quite well,” Polian said. “I was quoted in a headline, sort of half a quote, where I said, ‘You don’t get another Dallas Clark off the shelf,’ and you don’t. He’s one of a kind in the way he approaches life, in the way he plays the game. The kind of professionalism he shows, you could be around this game a lifetime and never have a player like Dallas Clark. That’s what I was driving at, but Jake is a terrific player.”
↵↵Somewhat close to a half-hearted compliment, but Tamme remains a decent waiver pick-up in deep leagues, especially if you’re an owner unfortunate enough to have recently lost Jermichael Finley for the season.
