RB Clinton Portis said that after he left the Redskins Week 4 game against the Eagles with a groin injury, he doesn't "think the team would even let me attempt to go and play" against the Packers in Week 5.
Fantasy Football Week 5: Ryan Torain May Take Center Stage
Assuming Portis can't go -- and it sure sounds like he won't -- that would put RB Ryan Torain at the center of a Mike Shanahan-led running attack. For fantasy owners who remember Shanahan's days with the Broncos, you know this is a good thing for Torain.
He’s put up a healthy 4.6 yards per carry and could push for 100 yards if he’s the main back on Sunday against the Packers. On the season (two games), Torain has 116 yards on 25 carries.
The Packers are currently 24th against the run so you have to like Torain’s matchup, although no Redskins running back has had more than 18 carries in a game this year.
If you have Torain, you have to play him on Sunday. The Portis situation will be figured out on Friday afternoon when the final practice reports are issued.
