NFL Fantasy Football Waiver Wire, Week 11: Tyler Thigpen Takes Over In Miami

Dolphins QB Tyler Thigpen. Pressed into action in the fourth quarter of a Week 10 victory over Tennessee, Thigpen completed 4 of 6 passes for 64 yards with a touchdown in helping to ice the win. Once a fantasy darling in his days with Kansas City, Thigpen has a shot to take over Miami's offense - which has more than sufficient weaponry - for the long term. He might get off to a slow start, facing Chicago's tough defense on a short week (and likely without Jake Long) on Thursday, but Thiggy is worth a stash to see if he can realize his potential sooner rather than later.

Redskins RB Keiland Williams. The injury bug continues to plague the tormented career of Ryan Torain, and while Torain has been recuperating, Keiland Williams is stealing his spotlight. In his last two games, Williams has gained 114 rushing yards on 22 carries, added another 78 yards on seven receptions, and scored a rather stellar four touchdowns. Torain still has precedent, and Clinton Portis is inching closer to returning to the lineup, but Williams is most definitely worth owning at this point - even if you can't play him right away.

Colts RB Javarris James. An undrafted rookie free agent out of Miami, James has taken advantage of his goal line role in Indy's mash unit of an offensive backfield, scoring three touchdowns in the Colts' last two games. James is not going to stay productive forever; when Joseph Addai and Mike Hart return to full health, James will be lucky to see any action at all. Keep an eye on this player, though - if Addai and Hart continue to miss time, James has worth simply as a competent goal line back.

Broncos WR Jabar Gaffney. Aside from Brandon Lloyd, Denver seemingly has a new receiver step up every week. Of late, Jabar Gaffney has been that player; he scored his second TD of the season in the Broncos' Week 10 romp over Kansas City, and with defenses continuing to pay attention to Lloyd, Gaffney could be in line for bigger numbers in the coming weeks. A veteran receiver capable of producing consistently, Gaffney looks like a nice depth add for fantasy playoff teams.

Jaguars WR Mike Thomas. Forget about his amazing, dumbest-of-dumb-luck Hail Mary TD reception to beat the Texans. Even before that career-defining moment, Thomas was quietly putting up a nice season in Jacksonville's offense. A very quick player that is currently averaging 13.1 yards per reception, Thomas is consistently getting open for David Garrard, and is capable of making big plays. Again, this is not a guy to play frequently, but you can do much worse as a depth option.

Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski. Prior to Week 10, Gronkowski had been something of a season-long tease to fantasy owners. He never caught more than four passes for 47 yards in a single game, but sprinkled in three touchdowns along the way and showed enough promise to make fantasy owners think big. If you stayed patient with Gronk, it paid off: Gronkowski shredded Pittsburgh to the tune of 72 yards and three scores on Sunday. He and Aaron Hernandez will likely flip-flop for the rest of the season in terms of which Pats TE is producing, but after a performance like that, Gronk simply can't be left on the waiver wire if he's there.

Dolphins TE Anthony Fasano. We'll bookend this post with another Dolphin. Fasano, thanks largely to the efforts of the aforementioned Thigpen, caught three passes for 54 yards and a touchdown in the fourth quarter against Tennessee. With Thigpen in the lineup, Fasano could become one of Miami's most-used receiving targets, ranking up there close to Brandon Marshall and Davone Bess. The theme here remains the same: he's not starter-worthy (yet), but will make a fantastic backup to a TE-needy team.
