If your league is still playing in Week 17, we’ve got the fantasy news of the day.
Fantasy Football News Roundup, Week 17: Who Will Rest And Who Will Play?
Checking in on the fantasy news of the day for Week 17
--- Bad news for owners of Hakeem Nicks, the star receiver for the Giants has a broken toe. There's no word yet on his status for Sunday's game against the Redskins, but you'd like your stars to be 100% going into a game. Clearly, Nicks won't be that if he plays.
--- Will the Eagles decide to rest a beat-up Michael Vick, who was hobbling at the end of the Vikings' game last night? That's the likely outcome, according to SB Nation blog Bleeding Green Nation. With the Eagles locked into the #3 seed in the NFC, there's not much reason to play Vick this week. Tough luck for his owners.
--- Some teams will rest starters because of their playoff seeds are already determined. You might count the Patriots among that bunch, last year they lost Wes Welker in a meaningless game. But resting guys isn't Bill Belichick's style, so who knows about them. Here's a good primer on which teams might rest guys in Week 17, and who is likely to go all out for the win.
--- Calvin Johnson hurt his ankle at the end of the Lions win over Miami, and isn't likely to practice this week. But his head coach says he could play without practicing, so keep an eye on this if you own CJ.
--- The Steelers are a team that have something to play for on Sunday, but they might not have their star safety on defense. Troy Polamalu is questionable for the game against Cleveland, and some of his teammates are pessimistic about his chances of playing. Still, if you own the Steelers defense, you have to play them this week, it's a no-brainer.
