Through three games of the 2010 fantasy football season, Larry Fitzgerald is once again having a slow start to the season. Fitzgerald has racked up 153 receiving yards and a pair of scores, which by most receiver's standards is pretty good...but we're talking about arguably the best receiver in the game.
Fantasy Football Week 4: What’s Going On With Larry Fitzgerald?
There are a few possibilities for his low impact to this point.
The quarterback just isn't very good. This seems to be the most likely possibility because Derek Anderson is completing a dismal 52 percent of his passes to this point. Fitzgerald has been targeted 34 times and caught just 12 balls so that seems to support that Anderson, well, sucks.
The knee injury is bothering him. Fitzgerald missed time in the preseason with a MCL injury and it’s possible that his slow start is a result of that.
He's a slow starter. Fitzgerald started slow last year with Kurt Warner at quarterback. He didn't notch a 100-yard game until Week 5 last year.
In reality, it's probably a combination of all three. There's absolutely a ceiling on Fitzgerald's 2010 season with Anderson at quarterback. Anderson's only other legitimate target on the field, Steve Breaston, will now miss several weeks of action meaning defenders can hone in on Fitzgerald.
With all three of those things potentially bothering him, and Breaston’s injury, this could be a rough season for Fitzgerald and fantasy football.
