New York Jets running back Joe McKnight returned to practice late in the week and is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers with a knee injury.
Joe McKnight Status Update: Probable With A Knee Injury
McKnight has just 40 yards from scrimmage, 15 yards rushing, but leads the NFL with 441 kick return yards, including a 107-yard return for a touchdown and two other returns of over 50 yards. Jets special teams coach Mike Westoff also began incorporating McKnight on punt returns during last week's 24-6 win over the Miami Dolphins, with McKnight returning three punts for 19 yards.
McKnight’s knee injury limited him during Wednesday’s practice, but he participated fully on Thursday and Friday and is expected to play against the Chargers, whose struggles on special teams last year have bled into 2011. The Chargers rank 27th in the NFL in allowing opposing kick returners to average 29.2 yards per return.
