Fantasy Football Week 16: Sleepers Include Rex Grossman, C.J. Spiller

Here’s a list of some sleepers that could help your fantasy football team in Week 16 of the 2011 NFL season.

For the vast majority of fantasy leagues out there, this is it. Week 16 is the championship game and right now, if you’re still in it, it’s all or nothing. There has never been a fantasy week more important than this one and if you’re sniffing around for a sleeper or two, I’m here to help.

Quarterbacks:

Rex Grossman QB Washington Redskins

He started the season and then he took a seat on the bench, but Rex Grossman is back and even though the Redskins are pretty much out when it comes to the playoffs, he can still help you win your playoff game. The Redskins are facing the Minnesota Vikings and their 30th-ranked pass defense on Saturday at home. If your quarterback if facing a tough defense, look Grossman's way.

Tarvaris Jackson QB Seattle Seahawks

The 49ers may have one of the league's toughest defenses but their pass defense is mediocre at best. Seattle is one of the toughest places to play in the NFL and if the 12th man starts to get to Niners, expect Tarvaris Jackson to take advantage. He's not going to have a huge game but he may throw a touchdown or two.

Running Backs:

C.J. Spiller RB Buffalo Bills

The Bills are hosting the Denver Broncos on Saturday which means that C.J. Spiller will be facing one of the league's hotter teams in the league. Good thing that he doesn't just run the ball fairly well in Fred Jackson's absence, but he can catch the ball too. Spiller had a huge game last week and there's no reason he can't do that again this weekend.

Kevin Smith RB Detroit Lions

The Lions have had to turn to Kevin Smith due to injuries that have depleted their backfield, but it's not all bad news. Smith has had some big games, including a 140-yard, two touchdown performance in Week 11. The Lions are hosting the Chargers which means Smith is facing a very mediocre run defense. He could have another big game on Saturday.

Wide Receivers:

Torrey Smith WR Baltimore Ravens

Torrey Smith has scored two touchdowns in the last two games and even though the Browns have the third-best passing defense in the NFL, teams have had trouble covering Smith all season long. He's Joe Flacco's primary deep threat and against the lowly Browns, Flacco may throw the deep ball early and often in an attempt to finish Cleveland early.

Jabar Gaffney WR Washington Redskins

The Minnesota Vikings have allowed the second most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers so far this season so why not start the No. 1 receiver of the team they play this week? That team would be the Redskins and that receiver would be Jabar Gaffney. In Fred Davis' absence, Grossman looks Gaffney's way even more. Start him in Week 16.

Tight Ends:

Jermaine Gresham TE Cincinnati Bengals

Jermaine Gresham is the Bengals' second-most reliable receiver after A.J. Green. Rookie quarterback is very dependent on Green and eventually teams are going to figure that out. If they're able to stop Green (and that's a pretty big if), Dalton will turn Gresham's way. Gresham is also a red zone mismatch from hell.

Brent Celek TE Philadelphia Eagles

Brent Celek had a huge game in Week 15. He caught five passes for 156 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles' beat down of the Jets. Michael Vick and Celek are obviously on the same page at the end of the season and now that Philadelphia is somehow back in the playoff picture, they're not going to slow down. If Celek is available, pick him up.

Defenses:

Tennessee Titans

The Titans got caught with their pants down against the Colts in Week 15 and that loss has likely eliminated them from the playoffs, but all hope isn't lost yet. The Titans still have an outside chance but they have to win out and the Jacksonville Jaguars are standing in their way in Week 16. Rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert will likely turn the ball over once or twice and if the Titans can stop Maurice Jones-Drew, they could have a big game.

Kansas City Chiefs

The last time the Chiefs faced the Raiders, they picked off six passes and returned two of them for touchdowns. After beating the Packers in Week 15, the Chiefs have a big confidence boost and their defense is playing well. Carson Palmer has been interception prone in his first season in a Raiders uniform and the Chiefs can, and should be able to take advantage.
