Fantasy Football Week 16 Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em: Start Tony Romo; Sit Steven Jackson

Having trouble decided who to start and sit on your fantasy football team in Week 16? Maybe this will help.

Most leagues are playing their championship games this weekend which means, if you’re still in it, this is the most important game of the season. If you’re having a tough time trying to figure out who to start and who to sit, look no farther. I’m here to help.

Quarterbacks:

Tony Romo QB Dallas Cowboys -- Start

Tony Romo is usually a turnover machine this time of year but he's coming off two huge games in which he threw seven touchdowns. The Cowboys are hosting the Eagles and they need to win to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Eagles have a decent pass defense but Romo has a ton of targets. Start him this weekend.

Joe Flacco QB Baltimore Ravens -- Sit

Joe Flacco has been inconsistent at times this year and even though he's playing the lowly Browns, you must remember that those lowly Browns have one of the league's best pass defenses. The Ravens are still fighting to get a first-round bye but I expect them to fight in the form of running Ray Rice instead of passing a lot on Saturday.

Running Backs:

Michael Bush RB Oakland Raiders -- Start

Michael Bush has done a good job replacing Darren McFadden in Oakland's backfield. The Chiefs have a pretty decent run defense but the Raiders will likely feed Bush the rock over and over again to keep the time of possession in their favor and limit the amount of turnovers in the passing game. If that happens, Bush will likely run for over a 100 yards and may even score a touchdown.

Steven Jackson RB St. Louis Rams -- Sit

I love Steven Jackson as a fantasy back in most weeks but this week he’s playing against the Steelers, who are ranked No. 1 against the run. Jackson likely won’t get many yards on the ground against the Steelers front seven and if Pittsburgh gets up to an early lead, which is likely, it will probably take Jackson right out of the game.

Wide Receivers:

Brandon Marshall WR Miami Dolphins -- Start

Brandon Marshall is a beast and the Patriots' secondary is the worst in the NFL. The Dolphins may not be the best team in the league, but Marshall is more than capable of making a couple cornerbacks and even a safety look foolish on Saturday. You should start Marshall anyway but if you're not, start him in Week 16.

Victor Cruz WR New York Giants -- Sit

Victory Cruz is one of Eli Mannings' favorite targets but because of that, he may draw the attention of Darrelle Revis, the league's best cornerback. Revis has the ability to shut down almost any wide receiver in the league and Cruz is no exception. He may not be a safe play this weekend.

Tight Ends:

Vernon Davis TE San Francisco 49ers -- Start

Vernon Davis had a big game in Week 15 against the Steelers. He was obviously one of Alex Smith’s go-to-guys throughout the game and there’s no reason to suspect that he won’t be a highly targeted receiver in Seattle on Saturday either. Start Davis if your usual tight end is playing a tough defense.

Heath Miller TE Pittsburgh Steelers -- Sit

Heath Miller hasn’t found the end zone since Week 7 and even though he had 82 receiving yards in Week 15, that’s only average when he didn’t score a touchdown. Don’t expect Miller to find the end zone on Saturday against St. Louis either.

Defenses:

Green Bay Packers -- Start

The Packers statistically have the second worst pass defense in the league but they also have the most interceptions. With the questions at the quarterback position for the Bears, the Packers could clean up. Start them in Week 16 and they may be the push you need to become the league champion.

San Francisco 49ers -- Sit

The 49ers have a solid defense but they're in Seattle playing a surging Seahawks team that is on a roll. Marshawn Lynch has been tough to bring down and it's not hard to see the Seahawks dominating, or at least scoring a few times, over the Niners. One team is already in the playoffs and the other has a shot. With the 12th man as loud as it is, I may put my money on the Seahawks in this one.
