Fantasy Football Week 16: LeSean McCoy, A.J. Green Among The Duds

Some big-name players at running back and wide receiver let their fantasy owners down in championship week.

It’s championship weekend (for most leagues) which means this weekend’s games were for all the marbles. If you’ve already got the win, congratulations. If you’ve already lost, you have my condolences. There are always great players and disappointing players in every week in professional football and if you lost, or you’re losing, there’s a good chance that some of your players were in the second category this weekend.

Here are five of the most disappointing performances from Week 16:

LeSean McCoy RB Philadelphia Eagles

LeSean McCoy has been nothing short of amazing throughout the 2011 season and if you had him on your fantasy team, you made the pick of the draft. However, in Week 16, McCoy did next to nothing despite their 20-7 win over the Cowboys. McCoy carried the ball 13 times for only 35 yards and caught only one pass for 10 yards. McCoy didn’t help you very much if you rode him to the championship game.

Score (ESPN standard scoring): four points

A.J. Green WR Cincinnati Bengals

He's by far the best rookie receiver in the NFL and he's going to be in the fantasy stud conversation for seasons to come, but on Saturday against the Cardinals, Green didn't do much at all. He caught two passes for 25 yards and carried the ball twice for another 25 yards.

Score: four points

Steve Smith WR Carolina Panthers

Steve Smith’s career has been revitalized by Cam Newton’s arm and for many teams, he single handedly provided wins throughout the season. However, when you needed him the most, in the championship round, Smith only caught one pass for nine yards and carried the ball once for 23 yards.

Score: two points

Felix Jones RB Dallas Cowboys

After DeMarco Murray went down with a season-ending injury, Felix Jones had a chance to step up and get things done for the Cowboys. You may have started him on Saturday against the Eagles and if you did, I'm sure you're sorry about it. Jones carried the ball four times for 24 yards. Unfortunately, the Cowboys' Week 15 game was meaningless to them. They can still play for the NFC East championship Sunday night against the Giants. Because of that, the Cowboys kept Jones out of harms way. It may help them, but it likely hurt you.

Score: two points

Hakeem Nicks WR New York Giants

In a huge game to keep their playoff hopes alive, many started Hakeem Nicks despite the fact that he was facing the Jets' tough defense. If you sat him, you're happy, but if you started him you didn't do much better than if you kept an empty spot on your starting lineup. Nicks only caught one pass against the Jets for 20 yards. While that's better than nothing, it's not much better.

Score: two points
