The weekly Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em picks aren’t about the top guys, players who you start week-in and week-out. It’s about the middle-tier; who is the most promising play that week? It’s largely based on matchup, injuries or how well the guys been playing. We asked our partner, playthisguy.com, to give us their weekly Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em picks. They survey fantasy gurus across the internet for their picks, and then combine the rankings into one uber-list.
Week 1 Fantasy Football Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em: Matthew Stafford A Must Start
It’s time for Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em on the first weekend of the NFL season. Who deserves to play this week, and who should be grabbing pine?
Computer rankings may not believe it, but the humans are putting Matthew Stafford near their top pick for Start ‘Em, coming in at the second spot. Detroit is a chic pick for success this year, and a lot of that is based on Stafford. He had a hot preseason, now he needs to stay healthy and get the ball to Calvin Johnson.
A couple of RBs are good choices, Knowshon Moreno and Beanie Wells. And the humans believe that the Redskins will have a good day against a banged-up Giants defense. Not sure if I would recommend starting Rex Grossman and Tim Hightower yet. Maybe in a 2 QB/3 RB league.
The experts don’t like Felix Jones, Miles Austin or Tony Romo against the Jets. But you probably drafted Romo as your #1 QB, you almost have to start him. And Austin had to be near the top of your WRs choices. Tough call against the Jets defense.
Austin Collie also gets a downgrade this week. I guess you have to re-evaluate all of the Colts players in light of the Peyton Manning situation.
