How are you feeling after Week 1? More importantly, how are you feeling about Week 2? Week 1 answers a lot of questions about your fantasy roster, and the injuries start to pile up; but Week 2 begins the process of separating flukes from trends. Whether you were up or down in Week 1, this week could be a completely different ballgame.
Fantasy Football Week 2 Overall Projections: Philip Rivers Vs.Tom Brady Shoot-out?
Week 2 of fantasy football is drawing near, it’s time to project the Top 25 overall fantasy players, before we break it down by position.
SB Nation’s partner, numberFire.com, has asked their giant computer-brain to crunch the numbers and to spit out some player projections for the upcoming week. They have the massive database of numbers, and the algorithms to break it all down, providing you with a statistical projection for Week 2.
Below we look at the overall player rankings, trying to determine who will be the big studs this weekend. Later today and into tomorrow, we’ll bring you the Top 25 player projections by position.
As usual, quarterbacks dominate the top of the rankings. Philip Rivers gets the top spot this week. He plays the Patriots, who won last week on Tom Brady's impressive performance, but gave up points and yards on defense to Chad Henne. If Henne can do it, surely Rivers will have a good day.
Rivers is followed by the usual guys, Aaron Rodgers, Michael Vick and Tom Brady. Looks like the Chargers and Patriots game is expected to be a shoot-out. The computer likes Arian Foster this week, but that's only if he plays. His status is day-to-day, so keep a close watch.
Drew Brees tore it up last week, but ranks 18th this week going against what was a solid Chicago defense in Week 1 against Matt Ryan and the Falcons. No wide receiver breaks the Top 25 stranglehold of QBs and RBs this week, but you can bet guys like Andre Johnson and Roddy White are right there at the top of the WR chart.
* Fantasy Points Projections are based on the Yahoo! and ESPN default scoring settings. Quarterbacks are scored with 1 point for every 25 passing yards, and 4 points for every touchdown. For running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends, they are scored with 1 point for every 10 total yards, and 6 points for every touchdown. This is a non-PPR projection.
