Defense and special teams. It’s tough from week to week, injuries play a big role in whether a defense can be trusted. A few injuries to key guys can turn an air-tight defense into Swiss cheese. Who do you go with?
Fantasy Football Week 3 Defense Projections: Steelers, Packers Best Bets
A few weeks into the fantasy football season, and we’re starting to get real numbers to use for projections. See who should perform in Week 3.

With that in mind, our partner, numberFire.com, fired up their super computer and used mathematical wizardry to create fantasy projections for Week 3. You can keep up with the status of injuries and general fantasy news here and here.
The Pittsburgh Steelers face a Colts team that is without Peyton Manning. Indianapolis has struggled under Kerry Collins, and the Steelers are always a highly-ranked defense. Put those two things together and you get the computer’s top pick of the week, Pittsburgh on defense.
Chicago’s offensive line is not getting it done in pass protection, Bears quarterback Jay Cutler has been getting pummeled. This provides a great opportunity for the Packers this week, and puts their defense in second place.
The Texans defense has improved greatly over last year’s edition, but they go up against Drew Brees and the potent Saints offense. The computer isn’t buying a Texans’ defensive resurgence just yet, and ranks them a lowly 24th.
