In Sunday's blowout of the New York Jets, the San Francisco 49ers turned to two quarterbacks to get production out of their offense. 49ers backup QB Colin Kaepernick took the ball out of Alex Smith's hands six times (5 runs, 1 pass). The Niners' starting passer finished 12-of-21 for 143 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions.

Fantasy Analysis: Alex Smith appeared to have some fantasy value early in the season -- throwing touchdowns and not turning the ball over. Of course, the lack of yards and pass attempts hurt his value, Smith seemed like a reliable backup or match-up player. However, given what San Francisco’s offense displayed on Sunday with Colin Kaepernick, it’s hard to think Smith’s value hasn’t been knocked down a notch or two.
