Ryan Mathews, Jackie Battle duke it out for carries, splitting fantasy value Sunday
Ryan Mathews rushed for 61 yards on 14 carries compared to 39 yards on 15 carries for Jackie Battle, but Battle found the end zone twice during Sunday’s game between the San Diego Chargers and the Kansas City Chiefs. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy Impact: And just like that, there is a running back controversy in San Diego. Battle actually earned the start on the day, though Mathews proved to be the more effective runner. Mathews seems likely to take on a bigger role as the season goes along, but the fact that the Chargers called Battle’s number twice near the goal-line makes the situation especially hazy.
