Joe Flacco could be throwing fewer passes over the second half of the 2012 season, according to the Carroll County Times. Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh reportedly wants to involve the running game more with the offense. The Ravens began using an up-tempo, pass-happy scheme this season, and while they found success early in the year, Flacco has struggled recently.

In Week 7 against the Houston Texans, Flacco went just 21-for-43 passing for 147 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. His three lowest yardage outings of the year have all come on the road. He has thrown for under 200 yards twice in his last three games.
Fantasy Impact: The Ravens reemphasized the running game over the second half of the 2011 season as well, so Harbaugh’s announcement isn’t necessarily a surprise. It is a big disappointment to Flacco owners, however. Flacco appeared to be on his way to a breakout year, especially after back-to-back outings with over 350 yards passing in Weeks 3 and 4.
Flacco now appears to be a backup at best in standard fantasy formats. Going forward, his only starting potential appears to be as a QB2 in two-quarterback leagues or as a fill-in on a bye week.
