Antonio Gates was targeted just three times Thursday night, all coming in the first half of the Chargers' matchup with the Chiefs. Fortunately he was able to haul in all three looks for 43 yards and the first touchdown of the game early in the first quarter.
Antonio Gates finds end zone to boost fantasy value in Week 9
Antonio Gates scored his third touchdown of the season against the Chiefs. We break down the fantasy implications.

This was just the second game Gates has scored in this season.
Fantasy Impact: The dominant fantasy tight end we're used to has emerged only once in 2012, but we saw a glimpse of him in the first half of this game. Gates used his size and strength to overpower Eric Berry on his way to a 14-yard score, providing his owners with the third touchdown of the season from the veteran.
Philip Rivers still isn't targeting his No. 1 tight end as often as we're used to but, if he can keep feeding him in the red zone, Gates' value should continue to rise.
