Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo still has the backing of team executives, despite throwing 13 interceptions through the first seven games of the season. Vice president Stephen Jones said (via The Fort Worth Star-Telegram) that the team has a lot of confidence in Romo and that the team wants to sign him to a contract extension that will make sure he retires with the Cowboys.

Turnovers have been cited as a big reason for the team's 3-4 start but Jones suggested that Romo was over-scrutinized because of the position he plays. Romo's contract expires at the end of next season. The Cowboys face the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.
Fantasy Impact: Romo remains a source of frustration to fantasy owners as well. Last Sunday, for example, he threw for 437 yards and nearly finished with two touchdown passes and a game-winning drive. He also threw four interceptions.
Romo might not always be to blame on his turnovers but that doesn’t save points for fantasy owners. He is a fringe No. 1 fantasy quarterback this week against the Falcons.
