Stevan Ridley may be the No. 1 runner in the Patriots backfield, but Shane Vereen proved he can be a dangerous weapon in Week 12. He exploded for an 83-yard touchdown after catching a short pass from Tom Brady in the second quarter, showing off his wheels after burning several Jets.
Shane Vereen scores huge touchdown to boost fantasy value in Week 12
Shane Vereen had the longest touchdown of the night against the Jets. We break down the fantasy implications.

Vereen rushed for 42 yards on 10 carries and also caught two passes for a total of 91 yards on Thanksgiving.
Fantasy Impact: Ridley received twice as many carries, but Vereen might be in line for an expanded workload after impressing everyone with his receiving touchdown. With Gronk out for several weeks, the Patriots could use another playmaker in the passing game.
Expect Vereen to be worth a possible flex play next week against the Dolphins. If he becomes more involved, though, he’ll be a consistent fantasy starter.
