Ryan Mathews placed on injured reserve, ending fantasy season
Ryan Mathews has been placed on injured reserve by the Chargers due to a broken left clavicle, ending his season. We break down the fantasy implications.

With Mathews out, Jackie Battle and Curtis Brinkley are expected to handle rushing duties going forward for the Chargers. Mathews finishes the season with 707 yards rushing and one touchdown on 184 carries, and 252 yards receiving on 39 receptions through 12 games.
Fantasy Impact: Mathews was drafted to be an RB1 by a lot of fantasy owners and was never able to live up to his billing. He never topped 100 yard rushing in any game this season, and scored his only touchdown of the year way back in Week 5.
Brinkley rushed for 42 yards on six carries, and had 14 yards on three receptions in relief of Mathews last week. He should probably be targeted over Battle (three carries, two yards) at this point, though neither should be considered a starter in leagues with standard depth.
