Malcom Floyd has been placed on injured reserve by the San Diego Chargers due to an ankle injury, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Floyd apparently suffered the injury during last week's loss to the Carolina Panthers. With the Chargers eliminated from playoff contention, the team may have place Floyd on IR as a precaution.
Malcom Floyd placed on injured reserve: Fantasy implications
Malcom Floyd has been placed on injured reserve by the Chargers due to an ankle injury, ending his season. We break down the fantasy implications.

Floyd will finish the 2012 season with 56 receptions for 814 yards and five touchdowns. Micheal Spurlock and Robert Meachem could see more targets as a result of the injury, along with tight end Antonio Gates.
Fantasy Impact: Of course, Danario Alexander is still the team's prime receiving threat. He should be worthy of starting consideration this week against the New York Jets, despite the goose egg he laid last week against the Panthers. Spurlock could be an intriguing option in deeper leagues, but he is hardly a safe fantasy option in any format. Meachem should still be avoided until further notice.
