Analysis: This may very well be the most interesting position battle in all of training camp. The Bucs invested a first-round pick on Doug Martin, the well-rounded back out of Boise State. Greg Schiano also has given the 23-year-old back the majority of the snaps with the first team at camp. Last night was a different story as Blount received almost all of the first-team carries and posted 30 yards on seven carries including a touchdown. Martin was no slouch either by punching in a score and putting up 21 yards on seven carries and a reception for seven yards with the second team. It’s also important to remember that Blount is arguably the least talented back in the passing game and Martin will dominate snaps on passing downs. This was the first preseason game, so Martin fans shouldn’t even think about jumping ship. He is still a very strong RB2 candidate, but Blount is now back on the radar as an flex-type player in 12-team leagues.
