Cam Newton didn’t get much help from his teammates on Saturday by converting just 2-of-6 attempts for 17 yards and rushing for 16 yards. He also failed to score and didn’t turn the ball over.
Cam Newton Has Quiet Preseason Outing: Fantasy Implications
Cam Newton plays most of the first quarter and doesn’t do much. We break down the fantasy implications.

Analysis: Cam's receivers could have made a couple plays for him. Mike Tolbert dropped a ball on a drag route and Seyi Ajirotutu should have reeled in a ball on a fade route in the end zone. Cam only targeted his starters Steve Smith and Brandon LaFell twice and once, respectively. LaFell needs to be watched closely in the preseason since Ron Rivera has said positive things about him in the past few weeks. Steve Smith has seen his ADP slip outside of the top-10 receivers despite the talk of Newton and offensive Chudzinski looking to attack the field vertically. As for Cam, he ranks in the top five quarterbacks on almost any draft board with Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Matthew Stafford all in his neighborhood. This game should have no impact on evaluating Cam's projections for 2012.
